Description
Activation tagged T-DNA pools from Dr. Detlef Weigel
Dr. Detlef Weigel, The Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, La Jolla, California generated activation-tag T-DNA lines. Initially, 850 of these lines were donated directly by Dr. Weigel, and a subsequent 7700 were grown to distribution-level quantities by Dr. Michael Sussman, Dept. of Horticulture, University of Wisconsin, Madison. These constitute Set 1 of the Weigel lines. A further 7848 lines are available and constitute Set 2 of the Weigel lines. Information on distribution of both sets are given below.
The background for this population is Columbia (Col-7). The pSKI15 vector used in the transformations contains an activation tag construct, a pBstKS+ plasmid rescue sequence and a phosphonothricin resistance gene (BAR driven by 5' MAS) between the T-DNA left and right borders. The activation-tag construction is comprised of multimerized 35S Cauliflower Mosaic Virus (CaMV) enhancers. Plasmid rescue can be conducted in conjunction with either the right or left T-DNA borders. Distribution of Weigel T-DNA lines
There are now three sets of Weigel Lines distributed by NASC. These sets are distributed differently as described below.
Set 1
The seed pools of these lines are distributed primarily as pools of 100 lines. For the first 850 lines, pools of 10 and single lines are available. The remaining 7,700 lines are available only as pools of 20. Stock numbers and costs are summarised below.

NOTE: All sets of pools include Col-7 wild type (N3731).
Set 2
The seed pools of these lines are distributed as 82 pools of 96. The complete set can be ordered as N21991. 8 pools of 12 make up a pool of 96 lines, and in total 654 pools of 12 are available.
